| I wasn't sure where to put this, so sorry if this is the wrong place.
But i'm looking to buy a condenser microphone and need some advice.
http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/flypage/product_id/5107
^Can anyone tell me if that needs phantom power, cos i'd expect it to, but it doesn't seem to say anything about it.
Also, what mics do you have, if you have your own.
Thanks

| Phantom power yes, all condensers need it, if your gunna buy a condenser though go all out, if your using a mixer possibly a C3000 would be a nice mic it adds a nice warmth to vocals
i use a Samson CO1U which is a USB condenser, just plugs straight into your cmputer its perfect for a bedroom recording artist and is about 60 pound
hope i helped | |

| Yes your right it does need phantom power. This is the mic I use: Audio-Technica AT4033 If you can i'd recomend you go for this: http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/flypage/product_id/2999 I know its tripple the price your paying for the Behringer but the quality of recording you'll get from the Rode compared to the Berhringer is well worth spending that extra £100... | |

hope i helped The Samson CO1U is what i've been looking at, but i didn't know anything about the company. I knew behringer was decent cos my mixer is a behringer. Thanks for the help, i'm definitely sticking with the Samson now. I can't spend much. I'm 16 and got no job lol, i don't have £100 to spend on equipment. Me and my friend are splitting the cost for everything and hoping to make the money back during the summer by selling mixtapes. Salam

| i just checked your last track, "fire", your verse was pretty good. the quality was ok, a little dimmed, are you using the soft pre correctly, when you speak, the bars should only move in the soft pre, so you move the bar down until its only in the green, turn the thresh so there's no movement.
i think, if your using this correctly anyways, then the problem could be with your mixing, i can tell by your verse that your using a strong compression and a reverb, not EQ'ing your vocals, or if you are, not well, (but that's something that comes with practice).
all you could really do is post up a black accapella, and show me what your raw recordings sound like, then i would be able to tell what your vocals are like, clear/crisp without having any effects pressed onto them already.
