Skepta, JME, K-Lash and Just Blaze Make Beats

RWD was one of 110 people invited down to Hanbury St in East London last week to hear a live recording by premier division UK and US artists. Organised by seminal London collective Blacktronica and paid for by PS3, the 110 sessions was one of the best things we’ve been to in a minute.

While Just Blaze built the built literally on the spot, JME, Skepta and Klash put pen to paper (or in Skepta’s style Biggie-style off the dome) and came up with the lyrics. While the drinks flowed and the cameras flashed, the four, plus graphic designer Brent Rollins who got busy on the artwork, created a track that proves the US and the UK can definitely make sweet music together.

“I know you’re hating me cos I played your girl like a Playstation 3, No one would buy your CD even if it was 25p,” joked Skepta while Klash kept it conscious as he talked about needing to ‘keep at least five eyes either side of me/ Analysing society...’ JME was similarly serious, serious. “If you’ve got talent then use it, stay under control, don’t lose it/ Cos there’s kids going mad on the streets. Please remember it’s only music…”

Lets hope this is the start of some bigger and better UK-US relations.

Theres some good examples of UK/US collabs, Foreign Beggers have worked with various Stones Throw artists i.e) OH NO, Wildchild and Declaime, with some outstanding results.... Also Chester Copperpot did that album with various UK/US emcees which had a couple of pretty strong tracks so i think the future is bright for some across the pond action......

its not now??...just heard it....anti climax, thought it would be amazing.
i think just blaze tryed to much to make a grime tune....then a hip hop one...it just fucks up the flow of the track, doesnt he know that klash can flip double time? but then again, not sure about grime spitters on normal hip hop tempo, and second beat was heavier,bassline on it beat was ILL.
Didnt like how skepta first came in but it evened it out.

Klash killed it still and if the US is feelin all of that then so be it, cause i've heard soo many stronger tracks from the UK
